All you do is 'Rah, rah, rah,' " said Luciani, a cheerleader since age 4 who also grew up in soccer, gymnastics and ballet. "I've always had tons of people who will come up to me and say, 'It's not a sport. That's when cheerleaders like Luciani get a chance to demonstrate their own athleticism. Sideline cheer, the synchronized chants designed to rile up a crowd, barely resembles what teams do during the competition season.
